Moon Hug
She rumbled through life
shaken and tossed from rail to rail.
Potholes, warned of her coming,
fought each other like women
at year end sales of fancy underwear
that their lovers never
bought
for them
but though only one woman
landed
the white lace panties
or purple boned bra,
potholes ganged up,
entangled
in each other's asphalt,
falling together at her
feet, hidden by puddles
filled both
by laughter
and tears,
in wait
for her careful steps.
she fought back the rushing years
and added baggage of lethargy
clouding
her beaming smile
(reflective, of course,
of her soul's heart)
she waded through
the waters that raced
to drown her lighted
candle, and stopped
to pick up those
fallen beside her
turned to pull up
those tripping on themselves
and reached out to catch
those about to fall in her path
and again today
she reaches
across treacherous wires
stretched to block her life's path.
Toes stretched
almost there.
Wait! a falling star she sees,
and jumps high. Caught
in her left hand
(the one closest to her heart)
No, the wish she makes is not for her
nor what she wants to be,
it is for the downtrodden
she passes everyday.
Mission accomplished
she reaches once more for the moon,
oh, so close, I swear her reach has
gotten better,
had she not stopped
to wish for others, she would not be
just
part
way
but, all the way
to
her moon.
Tomorrow. My decision made.
Tomorrow.
The world will run interference
and catch that falling star
and wish for those
downtrodden
(around her)
for it's her turn
to
hug
the lighted moon.
Written with love and admiration to someone in Florida;
it's her turn to hug the lighted moon.
Y'all are next.

Please don't copy my words.
You have plenty more tangled in your own hearts just waiting to spill out. Let them.

Dear Florida Friend aka ANON - Sometimes it is the simplest efforts that bring the greatest rewards, your thanks outweighs my sincere effort. I say that because I know you know how easy it was for me to write. . . but then I also know how heartfelt your thank you is. I join you in tears and then grin like only I can grin!!!
